Mary L. Sherwood, 85, Formerly of Pittsville, died Wednesday, October 3 at Mount View Care Center in Wausau.

A Funeral Service for Mary will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 8, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pittsville with Reverend Gary Markworth officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3 to 7pm at Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home in Pittsville, and an hour prior to service at church.

Mary was born February 22, 1933 in Pittsville, WI to Shirley and Eva (Hahn) Werner. She was united in marriage to Roland L. Sherwood April 8, 1950 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. A woman who showed great devotion to God and family; she worked over 25 years at St. John’s as organist and secretary, playing for weddings and funerals, and all while never missing a game when her kids or grandkids played. She took joy in music: singing with the Sweet Adelines for many years. Mary also kept her hands busy cooking, baking, sewing (and patching) her kids clothes, crocheting, and knitting.

Mary is survived by her 3 children: Kathie (Ralph) Holly of Reedsburg, Ric (Diana) Sherwood of Stevens Point, and Marc (Holly) Sherwood of Weston. She is further survived by 2 grandchildren: Nick Sherwood and Erin Holly; 1 step-grandchild: Cole Seymour; and 2 great grandchildren: Natalie & Brady Bolstad.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her 2 sisters: Margie Johnson and Patricia Parker.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation for the wonderful care mom received while at Mount View Care Center.

Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
