Wisconsin Rapids to switch to automated garbage collection in 2019
By City Times staff
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The city of Wisconsin Rapids will implement an automated garbage collection service in 2019
Wisconsin Rapids Mayor Zach Vruwink said the change may happen as soon as spring next year, but the city is aiming for a late spring kick off; however, challenges with the current garbage trucks may accelerate the initiation of the new system.
Service details are still in the development process, but city officials say that once the automated process begins, only carts issued by the city may be used. The automated process will be handled similar to the way recyclables are currently being processed.
A public information campaign will be launched before the conversion occurs.
