Papermakers lose close conference opener

NEKOOSA – The Nekoosa girls basketball team lost a close game in their conference opener to Westfield, on Dec. 14 at Nekoosa High School.

The Papermakers led at half, 23-19, making 11/15 free throws before Westfield turned things around. In the second half, Westfield added 18, compared to Nekoosa’s 12 points, winning the match up 37-35.

Leading Westfield in points was Alexa Brakebush with 16 and Tahya Reetz added 10.

Marissa Harnisch led Nekoosa with 17, while Amanda Schaefbauer had 8.

Nekoosa is 3-4 for the season and 0-1 in conference play.
