Suspects identified in Babcock vandalism

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – On May 11, the Wood County Sheriff’s Department received numerous reports of vandalism in Babcock, in the Wood County town of Remington.
The criminal damage was believed to have occurred on May 10 in the evening and consisted of anti-Christian slogans being spray painted on two churches, as well as images of a swastika. Similar images were spray painted in the town park. Other private property, to include a vehicle and propane tank, was also spray painted with inappropriate images of a sexual nature.
On May 20, the Wood County Sheriff’s Department identified two juvenile individuals who admitted to causing the damage to the churches and other properties.
The juveniles responsible will be referred to Wood County Human Services for charging. The names of the individuals involved will not be released due to their juvenile status.
