For the City Times

STEVENS POINT – Two local schools are among 27 Wisconsin schools being recognized with the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Award of Excellence for 2018-19.

The award recognizes member schools for their efforts and achievements in the areas of sportsmanship, ethics, integrity, leadership, and character.

Stratford and Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln both met the criteria to receive the award; this is Lincoln’s third time receiving the recognition.

Qualification is dependent on the actions and attendance of the athletic director, school representation, coaches, student athletes, athletic director, and the program itself.

Recipients will be presented the Award of Excellence at the fall area meetings.

WIAA oversees interscholastic athletic programs for the 511 senior high schools and 43 junior high/middle level schools in its membership.
