WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School Athletic Director John Frizzell will be recognized by the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association (WADA) as Athletic Director of the Year for Wisconsin’s District 2.
The award recognizes athletic administrators who are “recognized in the community as an educational leader” and “administers athletics as an integral part of the total educational program.” Also considered are the individual’s contributions to the “social and cultural environment of school and community and involvement in state and national associations.”
Frizzell will be recognized at the WADA convention in November, along with six other athletic directors from around the state. One of the seven chosen for each state district will be selected as the State Athletic Director of the Year.
Frizzell was selected as Lincoln’s athletic director in 2016, following the retirement of Bill Vickroy. He came to Wisconsin Rapids from a position as the Chippewa Falls High School athletic director. Frizzell was with Chippewa Falls from 2009-16, and at Wisconsin Dells High School before his term there.
Last year’s award recipient for District 2 was Marshfield’s Nathan DeLany, who was also chosen as the State Athletic Director of the Year.
