NEKOOSA – Nekoosa girls golf travelled Set. 16-17, with a conference meet in Viroqua followed by an 18-hole invitational in Trempealeau the next day.

“At Viroqua, the girls played a very hilly course that tested their skills with how narrow the fairways are,” said Coach Jen Jackson.

Jade Hildebrand led the team with a 46, finishing in third place only two shots off the medalist spot. Rounding out scores for the rest of the team were Izzy Escamilla with a 64, Kit Krotzman with a 72, and Hailey Brown with a 73. As a team, the girls finished in fifth place but saw great improvement in decreasing the gap between them and the fourth-place team.

“At Trempealeau Mountain, there were over 50 golfers from Division 1 and 2 powerhouse teams that the girls played against,” recalled Jackson. “The sunny, hot day made play difficult for players across the board, but our girls fought hard to do their best on a fast and narrow course.”

Hildebrand led the Papermakers with a 90, and earned a seventh-place overall finish. Rounding out scores for Nekoosa were Izzy Escamilla, 123, Hailey Brown, 139, Gwen Moffett, 145, and Kit Krotzman, 156.
