WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Nekoosa football team pulled ahead in the third quarter to take down Wisconsin Dells in South Central Conference play on Oct 11 at Wisconsin Dells.

The Papermakers were the only ones to score in the first quarter off a three-yard Sawyer Kniprath touchdown run.

Wisconsin Dells tied it up in the second quarter, but the Papermakers came back with a 24-yard field goal; however, the Dells team retaliated with a six-yard touchdown pass, but a failed two-point conversion ended the first half with the Dells leading 13-10.

Nekoosa came back in the third quarter with a 16-yard Trent Waltenberg touchdown run. This ended the scoring for both teams and the Papermakers won 17-13.

Waltenberg led in rushing, with 90 yards. Cordero Ysquierdo led in receiving with nine.

Nekoosa is now 3-3 in the South Central Conference. They next play Wautoma on Oct. 18 in Nekoosa.
