WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Nekoosa High School boys basketball team fell at Westfield in its South Central Conference opener on Dec. 12.

Westfield (5-0, 1-0) took a 40-29 lead into halftime, and outscored Nekoosa 33-18 in the second half to win 73-47.

Aaron Merrit scored 20 points and Jace Lobner had eight points to lead Nekoosa (1-2, 0-1).

“Westfield shot very well in the first half,” said Nekoosa boys basketball head coach Steven Genrich. “Nekoosa made some runs early in the second half but struggled shooting around the rim.”
