EAA to offer free plane rides to youth

For the City Times
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids Chapter No. 706 of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is offering free airplane rides to kids ages 8-17 on Aug. 8, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the South Wood County Airport in Wisconsin Rapids.
“Young Eagles Day” is a community service to educate youth about airplanes and aviation careers.
Kids will receive a 20-minute airplane ride and will be able to manipulate the controls if they choose.
“Due to COVID-19, extra precautions will be taken to ensure a safe environment,” an EAA release said. “To prevent crowding, children must be pre-registered at www.youngeaglesday.com – no walk-ins will be accepted. Masks must be worn by all attendees when indoors or within six feet of another person outdoors. Cockpits will be sanitized between rides. A parent or legal guardian must be present with the child to sign a release form on the day of the event.”
