For the City Times

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – It was duck season for the Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings, Nov. 21-22, as they swept the Dells Ducks 12-2 and 10-0. This extended their win streak to nine games.

Captain Cole Creger led the storm, putting up a hat trick and two assists, for five points the first game; and then, a goal and five assists the second. He totaled 11 points on the weekend.

Aiding in this effort were Cole’s line mates, Nathan Bottles and Luke Hartge. Bottles scored a hat trick and an assist the first game and another three points in the second, with total of seven points. Hartge notched four assists in the first game and a hat trick in the second with a couple of assists, for nine points.

Opening the second game in goal was Alex Smedley, who locked down the net to earn his first Junior A shutout.

The Riverkings remain in first place in the Midwest-West Division going into Thanksgiving break.

The Riverkings take a week hiatus for Thanksgiving and then return to action at home Dec. 4-6, as they welcome Northern Colorado Eagles.

On Dec. 11-12, the Riverkings defend the home ice against the Minnesota Blue Ox. To wrap up the holiday season, the Riverkings make one final trip to the USPHL Chicago Showcase during the week of Dec. 17.
