Riverkings to Host Fighting Irish in Two-Game Series

The first place Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings host a two-game series against the Detroit Fighting Irish this weekend.
The Riverkings have just come off a weekend split against the Steele County Blades, and have won five out of their last six games. They face a Fighting Irish team who are currently on a 14 game losing streak.
Forward Ryan Mantz continues to lead the way for the Riverkings with 67 total points on the season, with forward Reed Kaiser not far behind with 60. Goalie Joe Fratantonio has been impressive in net as of late, putting up a goals against average of just 1.47 per game.
The Riverkings currently have a tight grip at the top of the standings with a 28-7 record on the year, leading the defending champion second place Dells Ducks, who currently stand at a 26-10 record.
Friday night is “Friday Night Tavern” night, with a t-shirt giveaway sponsored by Venus Gentlemen’s Club. It is also Military Night, where service members receive half off ticket prices. The Civil Air Patrol will present their flags in a color guard presentation and sing the national anthem.
Saturday night is Ho-Chunk Gaming night, where tickets are $2 for tribal members. There will be an open-skate with the Riverkings after the game.
You can catch the home stretch this weekend on Friday and Saturday night at the South Wood County Recreational Center. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m. both nights.
