Two area powerlifters are state champs

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Nekoosa and Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School students participated in the Wisconsin High School Powerlifting Association’s State Powerlifting Championships, held at the Fox Cities Exhibition Center in Appleton on March 8.
Ryan Blokhuis, a senior at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School, won his first state championship, squatting 596 lbs, benching 303 lbs, and deadlifting 606lbs, for a 1505 total.
Logan Cleary, a Nekoosa junior, also took first place at the championship on March 8. Logan also set the state records for squat, bench, and total, by squatting 810lbs, benching 579 lbs, and deadlifting 617lbs, for a 2006 total.
Logan is a three-time state champion.
Wisconsin Rapids had 14 lifters participate.
Results
Abigail Schuerman placed third, Jocelyn Khang placed 19th, Allyson Wolf finished 15th, Hannah Felker was 12th, Kayla Moranchel-Sweet finished 22nd, Aria Fischer was ninth, Hope Jepson finished 12th, Taylor Jennings had a fourth place finish, Carson Junemann placed eighth, Chue Fue Khang was 12th, Austin Junemann placed sixth, Jordan Tibbetts finished in eighth, Myles Sawyer was 16th, and Nathan Frost placed seventh.
Nekoosa had two other competitors in Kadan Downing and Emily Brown, who both placed sixth at the competition.
