Rapids Man Disagrees with Sexual Assault Charge
By Jacob Mathias
A Wisconsin Rapids man being charged with sexual assault of a child says he is unaware he did anything wrong.
Nicolas Weiler, 18, faces two counts of 2nd degree sexual assault of a child under 16 years of age, a charge which can result in up to 40 years in prison, a $100,000 fine, or both.
According to court documents a Nekoosa police officer found Weiler and a girl claiming to be 18 having sexual intercourse in the back seat of a vehicle in a parking lot of an apartment building on the 900 block of W. 3rd Street.
The girl later admitted to being 15, which Weiler said he knew.
The girl told police she and Weiler had sex for the first time in his apartment a few days before. She told police the sex was consensual.
When police questioned Weiler, he said he couldn’t understand why he was in trouble, saying the act was driven by his hormones.
Weiler said it was “gay” that he was under arrest.
Weiler was released on a $5,000 signature bond and is to have no contact with the girl. He returns to court on August 11 for a preliminary hearing and arraignment.
