Harold “Teeny” James Coyer, 86

Harold “Teeny” James Coyer, age 86, formerly of 305 Buehler Avenue in Nekoosa, passed away Friday November 6, 2015 at Bethel Living Center in Arpin, Wisconsin surrounded by family and friends.
Funeral services for Harold will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday November 11, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa, Wisconsin. Rev. John Swing will officiate the service. Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 10, 2015 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. There will be a parish prayer service held at 6:30 PM Tuesday evening. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday morning at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Nekoosa, Wisconsin. Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa is assisting the family with arrangements.
Harold was born on May 11, 1929 in Nekoosa to the late John and Cecilia (Parchem) Coyer. He attended Alexander High School and after graduation he served in the U.S. Army from 1951- 1953 during the Korean War. He married Marian Ruth Kuhn on September 5, 1951 at Sacred Heart Church in Nekoosa. Harold worked as a trimmer and in maintenance at Georgia Pacific/Domtar for 43 years, retiring in 1991.
Harold held different city office positions for over 25 years including alderman and mayor and was an active member of the Nekoosa Auxiliary Drill Team that traveled and competed nationally. Most notably was the competition he competed in on the boardwalk of Atlantic City. He was a coach for the Nekoosa youth baseball program and for the city league baseball teams. Harold was also active with the Boy Scouts of America and served as a troop leader for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Harold loved hunting, fishing, gardening, owned and operated a bait shop out of his residence and was an excellent woodworker. He enjoyed spending time up north in Philips, WI and traveling all around the country with his wife. Harold was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers, Badgers and the Papermakers here locally. His favorite sporting events to watch were those of his children and grandchildren.
Harold is survived by his wife Marian; children Daniel (Margie) Coyer of Katy, TX, Susan Coyer of Nekoosa, James (Richelle) Coyer of Wisconsin Rapids and Karl (Stephanie) Coyer of Nekoosa; son-in-law David Krueger of Nekoosa; grandchildren Krista (Chris) Lapp, Adam Coyer, Matthew Krueger, Lindsey (Cole) Peissig, Chase (Meghan) Coyer, Josh Coyer, Jarod Coyer and Rachel (Richie) Ysquierdo; step-grandchildren Roy Jr, Melissa and Steve Garay and Valerie (Robert) Medrano; great-grandchildren Avery Lapp, Collin Ysquierdo, Easton and Emilyn Coyer; step-great grandchildren Jordyn Mason and Kamila Hicks; nephew Joe (Donna) Barney; brother-in-law Tom Barney;
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, step-father Joseph Wypych, daughter Lynette Krueger, son John “BJ” Coyer, sister Marion Barney, brother Gordon Coyer and sister Bernice Coyer.
