Two Charged with Obstructing an Officer

By Jacob Mathias
Two Wisconsin Rapids residents are charged with obstructing an officer after lying about their names when questioned by police.
Christopher Jones, 26, and Jessica Grosskreutz, 27, are both charged with obstructing an officer, a misdemeanor with a maximum sentence of up to
nine months imprisonment, or a $10,000 fine or both if convicted.
According to the criminal complaint, on November 20 a Wisconsin Rapids Police detective made contact with the defendants who were parked at a gas pump of The Store convenience store on Eight Street and East Grand Ave. The detective contacted the defendants because he recognized them as having active warrants out for their arrest.
When the detective spoke with Jones, he identified himself as Terrell and said Christopher was his brother. He had no ID on his person. The detective then checked the criminal investigation database which said Jones had multiple tattoos including one on his neck that read “BOOGIE C JONES” and another reading “HARD” on his right arm.
The tattoos in the database matched the suspect and he was arrested.
When the detective spoke with Grosskreutz, she identified herself as Krystal Thompson and then gave two different birthdates when asked. The detective asked about the two birthdates and told Grosskreutz he’d have to go in for fingerprinting.
She then indicated her true name and was arrested.
Jones is currently free on a $2,500 signature bond. He returns to Wood county Circuit Court on January 29, 2016 for a pretrial conference. Grosskreutz makes her initial appearance in court on December 28 at 9:00 AM.
This case has not been concluded. Unless a judgment of conviction is entered, the defendant is presumed innocent of all charges.
