Wisconsin Rapids Man Pleads in Battery Case

A 26-year-old man has pleaded not guilty after police say he attacked and choked a family member on the 3700 block of 7th St. South.
Byron Andres, of Wisconsin Rapids, was charged with battery after being arrested on Dec. 25, 2015. According to the complaint, a female family member of Andres’ told police an argument between the two started the night before.
The woman told police the altercation became physical and Andres pinned her down on the kitchen counter and started to choke her. He then struck her in the head multiple times and pushed her into the garage entry door to the residence, according to the complaint.
Andres also allegedly kicked her and told her to “get out”.
Andres admitted there was some pushing between the two, but declined to give a formal statement.
If convicted, Andres faces nine months imprisonment and up to $10,000 in fines.
Andres pleaded not guilty on Jan. 25. He returns to court for a pre-trial conference Feb. 26.
Andres is currently free on a $500 bond.
