A 36-year-old man will face charges of burglary, cocaine possession, and others, after police say he burglarized a business.

Adam Schmitz, of Marshfield, is charged with burglary, possession of cocaine, possession of THC, theft, and disorderly conduct.

According to police reports on Jan. 27 an officer was dispatched to a business on the 100 block of W. Kalsched St. in Marshfield regarding a report of a burglary.

The complainant observed a large footprint in the door, as someone had kicked the door down to enter the business at approximately 2:29 a.m. Surveillance footage showed a suspect dressed in light colored jacket with a stripe down the side look around the place and then walked over to the cash register.

Officers recognized the suspect as Adam Schmitz from previous contacts, and found him at a residence on the 1700 block of N. Chestnut Ave. for a search of the premises. Once inside, officers located the clothing matching the clothing in the surveillance video, as well as the matching boots that allegedly kicked the door down.

Officers also located suspected cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia at the residence. Tests would later confirm the substances to be cocaine and marijuana.

If convicted, Schmitz faces up to 12 years imprisonment and up to $25,000 in fines for burglary, as well as three years and six months imprisonment and up to $10,000 in fines per drug charge.

His plea hearing was May 10, and further court dates are pending. He is currently out on a $2,000 bond.
