Rafters Playing For Sweep of Border Cats

In a battle of one of the hottest teams in the Northwoods League and the coldest, the hotter team came out victorious as the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (5-3) handed the Thunder Bay Border Cats (0-9) another loss last night.
Gareth Stroh (Coffeyville CC) threw 7 shutout innings and now Rafters’ starter Chris Cooper (Texas A&M- Corpus Christi) will look for similar resultstonight on the mound. Cooper earned a win in his first start this season after throwing 5 innings of shutout baseball while allowing just 2 hits and striking out 4 against the Wisconsin Woodchucks earlier this year.
On the offensive side, Brandon Polizzi (Cal State- Dominguez Hills) has collected 10 hits over the past four games and raised his average from .267 to .393. Joining Polizzi in the hit parade is Patrick Cromwell (Santa Ana College), who is currently on a seven game hitting streak.
Tonight’s matchup kicks off at 7:05 p.m. at Witter Field.
