A 23-year-old woman faces charges of battery after police reported she attacked an individual outside of a tavern.

Danielle Karbowski, of Nekoosa, is charged with substantial battery and disorderly conduct. According to police reports on May 8, an officer was dispatched to a local hospital regarding an assault.

According to the complainant, she and Karbowski started an argument inside a tavern on the 100 block of 2nd St. in Wisconsin Rapids. Once outside, Karbowski allegedly continued the argument, then tackling her and bringing her to the ground.

Once on the ground, she allegedly struck the complainant’s head and neck until others pulled Karbowski off of her. Officers observed scrapes on the complainant’s knees, elbows, hands, nose and neck, including a large bruise on her forehead and a chipped tooth.

Officers spoke to Karbowkski, who stated that she didn’t remember anything from that night, and didn’t sound like something she would do. When police pressed further, Karbowski allegedly admitted getting into an argument with another woman, but does not remember a physical altercation of any kind.

If convicted, Karbowski faces up to three years and six months imprisonment and up to $10,000 in fines, as well as additional charges of disorderly conduct. Her arraignment is scheduled for Jul. 11.
