For the City Times

On Sunday, August 28th the Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers Show Team will be hosting a benefit water ski show for two of our members, Jackson and Ronan.

Before the show, the team will be holding a free learn to water ski clinic. There will be a basket raffle and “passing the hat” during the show. All funds collected will go to both boys to help with their medical bills.

Aqua Skier member Jackson was struck by a truck that was passing by our ski site. Jackson was airlifted to Marshfield where he spent 2 weeks. Jackson’s ribs, pelvis, hip and T1, C1, C4 and C5 Vertebra all sustained fractures. His liver was lacerated, sinus’s bruised and suffered road rash. Miraculously, Jackson is expected to make a full recovery with months of physical therapy and surgeries.

Aqua Skier member Ronan was recently diagnosed with acute lymphocytic (T-Cell) leukemia. He is currently being treated aggressively in Madison.  Ronan is only 8 years old, but has a positive outlook. He loves watching the team ski and the team is missing having him around.

Food will also be available for purchase from Rocky Rococo’s Pizza.

Learn how to ski from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. — Water ski show to start at 6:00 p.m. This event will be held at Red Sands Beach at Lake Wazeecha at 6411 South Park Rd.

Anyone interested in participating in the free learn to ski clinic should email [email protected] to reserve a spot.

Questions regarding the event should be directed to Jordan Becker, Event Coordinator, (715)340-7612, [email protected]
