“Choose to Re-Use” Event Takes Unwanted Items

The South Wood County “Choose to Re-Use” event will kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Residents who are in need of discarding items that others can use are welcome to donate to this cause. Items accepted range from small appliances, lawn care items, household goods, knick-knacks, electronics, clothes, and much more.
Bringing in items to the event is not required to take an item. The objective of the event is to reduce the amount of waste in landfills while helping others. There are some charges for certain items to dispose of —
-Tires: $3 for 15″ and below, $4 for 16″-19″ and $8 for 20″-24″
-Televisions and monitors: $10/$25 for 27″ and above.
There is free disposal of car batteries, washers, dryers, and other large metal items, as well as other electronic equipment. Disposal of paint and chemicals are not permissible, as the event is not equipped to handle those items.
