‘Scouting For Food’ Hits Wood County and Beyond

For the City Times
Scouting for Food is just one way the Boy Scouts of America works to improve communities across the nation.
Scouts from Samoset Council will do their part locally to help minimize this ongoing need. 2017 marks the 29th consecutive year for the Boy Scouts of America (BSA)’s Scouting for Food Community Service Project. In this nation-wide effort, the BSA partners with local food pantries to help our neighbors. National statistics indicate that 20% of Americans face some type of food inadequacy every week.
On Saturday, April 1st Scouts from all over Samoset Council will have left a yellow bag (from Trig’s food stores) at residences throughout Central Wisconsin from Adams-Friendship to the Michigan border.
The Scouts ask that contributions of non-perishable food and /or personal and household care items be placed in the bag and the bag then placed out for collection by the Scouts before 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 8th.
The collections will be delivered to more than 50 food pantries throughout the thirteen counties served by the Samoset Council. All collections will be distributed locally.
The Scouts and their leaders thank you for continued support of Scouting and the efforts of our local food pantries.
