WISCONSIN RAPIDS — A 34-year-old Wisconsin Rapids woman has been charged with burglary and heroin possession.

According to police reports filed on May 5, on March 4, an officer responded to a burglary complaint in the area of 1st St. North. The complainant informed police that his apartment had been burglarized by a local woman later identified as Heidi Hewuse, who was at his apartment earlier that day.

Reported missing was a television, Playstation games, controllers, and a paintball gun. According to the complainant, he found Hewuse’s phone in the apartment after the burglary, and reviewed messages on her phone potentially implicating her guilt.

On May 9, authorities made contact with Hewuse at a motel on 8th St. Once inside, officers identified the missing television, as well as a glass pipe and a plastic tube containing three rocks of heroin. Hewuse allegedly admitted that the substances belonged to her, and that she took the items from the complainant’s apartment.

Police eventually found the missing games, controllers, and paintball gun.

If convicted, Hewuse faces up to 16 years imprisonment, and up to $35,000 in fines. Her next court appearance is scheduled for June 5.
