Heroes’ Cafe Events for October-December

Below is a listing of prominent Heroe’s Cafe veteran’s activities from the months of October through December.
Oct. 4 – Documentary on Donut Dollies.This is also the day the Heroe’s Cafe will be shifting operations to the Apex room at Crossview Church — commonly where Quilts of Valor presentations are held.
Oct. 11 – Material Girls Quilt Presentation to Vietnam Donut Dollie Diane Shufelt. Shufelt served 13 months in Vietnam during the height of the conflict. The local Chapter 101 of the Vietnam Veterans of America has sent a letter to the president of the VVA soliciting a change to the by-laws that would allow Donut Dollies full membership in the organization.
An announcement will be made regarding this information before she is presented her quilt and everyone is encouraged to get behind this movement to grant them full membership in the VVA. There was a total of 627 of these ladies that served in Vietnam and 5 of them made the ultimate sacrifice.
Nov. 22 – No Cafe.
Dec. 13 – Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting the Café. Everyone is encouraged to bring their grandchildren on that day.
Dec. 27 — No Cafe.
Jan. 3 – Door prize will be a free 3 month membership to the YMCA; a value of $245.
