Four Zones Nominated in Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids, and Nekoosa/Port Edwards
NEKOOSA -– Earlier this week, Governor Walker announced his nominations for the federal Economic Opportunity Zone (EOZ) community development tax incentive program. Among his nominations, were two locations in Stevens Point, one in Wisconsin Rapids, and one that overlaps parts of Nekoosa and Port Edwards. The program exists to encourage businesses to invest in designated regions. Senator Patrick Testin was happy that the Governor chose to highlight these areas in Central Wisconsin.
“These nominations are a further example of the increasing number of opportunities in Central Wisconsin,” said Sen. Testin. “Our people are hard workers with innovative ideas, and that makes this area worthy of investment. If awarded these incentives, it will only add more fuel to our area’s economic engine.”
The U.S. Department of the Treasury has the final say over EOZ designation, and will be making their decisions in the coming months.
