Grant marks final stretch of Building Futures campaign
For the Rapids City Times
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – As the Building Futures Together Capital Campaign steadily works to provide a new facility to house the local Boys & Girls Club and YMCA, they have reached the final stretch with a gift from the Aspirus Riverview Foundation.
The foundation has provided the community with a match challenge – dollar-for-dollar up to $250,000. The matching gift combines the power of individuals in our community with the foundation, putting the campaign one step closer to its goal of raising the final $1 million for the project.
“The Boys & Girls Club and the YMCA are a tremendous asset to our community,” said Todd Cour, Foundation Board Chair. “When you truly look at the impact both organizations have on kids and adults alike, it’s special. Our mission aligns well with what both organizations are working to accomplish. Our Foundation focuses our resources right here in this area, and with regards to this project and the mission of all three organizations, our Board is excited to offer our support.”
The proposed facility will be a combination of renovated and newly constructed spaces encompassing approximately 90,000 square feet at the former Rapids Mall site. The new facility will house both organizations and provide synergies along with numerous opportunities with surrounding service providers, like the Aspirus Riverview Foundation. The foundation is a key supporter of both organizations and is looking forward to continued collaborative efforts and expanded programming.
“The support from the community and donors has been overwhelming. We are fortunate to have great partners and generous donors who understand the impact of this campaign in our community,” Phil Brown, campaign co-chair. “With the help and support of this matching grant, we are on pace to meet our fundraising goal by the end of July, with a tentative ground breaking set for August.”
