For the City Times

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wood County Drug Task Force invites the public to attend the third presentation in the series “A Path Towards Progress – Prescription Drug Abuse and Alternatives to Prescribing” on Nov. 7, 5:30-7:30PM at McMillan Memorial Library, 490 East Grand Ave., Wisconsin Rapids.

Dr. Douglas P. Galuk, a physician with Wisconsin River Orthopaedics, will discuss how the nation has gotten into the current state of overprescribing and why there has been a recent shift in the way medications are being prescribed. He will also cover alternative therapies that should be the first line of treatment and ways for the community to embrace these alternatives that are replacing prescription pain medications.

There will be a free meal and childcare offered at the event.  Dinner and registration begin at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 6 p.m.

Registration is due by Nov. 2.  Register at  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/AlternativestoPrescribing or call the Wood County Health Department at 715-421-8923.
