WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Riverkings hockey team swept the Rum River Mallards Nov. 9-10 to give them four straight wins at home.

On Nov. 9, the Riverkings took the Mallards, 5-2, in their first game of the weekend. Two minutes into the game, the scoring began as Rich Young slapped one in against the Mallards with the help of Jesse Edwards and Tomas Krchnak. Goalie Dom Paciocco kept the net in order, defending all shots thrown his way.

Thimo Ey also sunk one in, with Adam Peterson and Carson Bayoff claiming assists on the play, as the Riverkings ended the first period 2-0.

Seven minutes into the second, Payton Carter lit the lamp with the help of Zack Miceli and Carson Bayoff. Adam Peterson wasted no time scoring 40 seconds later, with assistance from Cole Creger and Zack Hartley. The second ended 4-0.

Adam Peterson claimed his second goal of the night with the help of Jordan Stear and Cole Creger. That goal moved Peterson past former Riverking Ryan Mantz as all time leader in goals scored.

The Nov. 10 game began with three-year veteran Rich Young scoring with seven minutes left in the first period. Young was assisted by Tomas Krchnak and Zack Hartley, as he advanced to a four-game scoring streak.

The Riverkings were battling hard against the Rum River Mallards as the second period ended with the penalty box filled up on both sides and the scoreboard at 1-0 Riverkings.

The Mallards scored in the third to tie the game 1-1 and send it into overtime.

The Mallards took a penalty early in OT giving the Riverkings a power play opportunity. Raymond Fleming capitalized on the Riverkings position ending OT in 1:17 with assists going to Jordan Stear and Cole Creger.
