Royals beat Dons for Cranberry title

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — The Assumption girls varsity basketball team topped the Columbus Dons to take the title in the 34th annual Cranberry Classic at Assumption High School in Wisconsin Rapids.
The Dons beat Nekoosa 60-40 in the first bracket on Nov. 23 to face Assumption, who took Loyal 56-42.
The Dons and Royals then faced off in the winner’s bracket on Nov. 24, with Assumption grabbing top place in its home tournament by a score of 52-39.
Addie Baierl was high for Columbus, with 12, with Hailey Roehl close behind at 11.
Elle Leberg led the Royals with 16. Maddie Bohn added 11, while Emily Bohn had 10.
Loyal took the third spot, beating Nekoosa 57-32.
