Richard was born September 8, 1944 in Fond du Lac to Raymond and Viola (Gau) Sabel. He married Agnes Eisenbraun on May 1, 1965 in Elmhurst, IL. Richard worked for International Harvester in Melrose Park, IL for 19 years, Flexonics in Bartlett, IL for 17 years then retired to Wisconsin and went to work at Fleet Farm in Stevens Point, WI where he retired from in 2010, But then he was bored so he decided to drive bus for Safeway for four years until he really decided to retire in 2014.
Dick loved boating, water skiing, traveling with friends, and visiting national parks. He enjoyed helping family and friends with home repair and remodeling projects. Fishing was his passion and being in his boat on the lake or on the river was his happy place. One of his favorite past times was to hide around the corner and scare the bajeezous out of you or travel with his wife and kids and pass gas in the car and lock the windows closed to make them suffer for 15 minutes or so. His sense of humor was second to none and we loved him for it.
He is survived by his wife Agnes Sabel of Nekoosa; daughters Wendy (David) Newsom of Town of Rome, WI and Cynthia (John) Brnusak of Streamwood, IL; son Anthony (Gail) Sabel of Fenton, MI; “Bonus” daughter Joann (Wayne) Lakoma of Schaumberg, IL; eight grandchildren Pamela Newsom, Alexandria Newsom, Jennifer (Marcin) Grygorowicz, David (Nikki) Brnusak, Kevin Regier, Julianna (Derrik) Laufenberg, Megan Sabel and Jarrett Sabel; brothers James Sabel and Edward (Christine) Sabel; sister Christine (Robert) Schaefer and many other family and friends.
