Girls Union hockey routs Lakeland

MARSHFIELD – The Wisconsin Valley Union team of Marshfield, Stevens Point, Waupaca, and Wisconsin Rapids girls hockey came alive in the third period to overtake the Lakeland Thunderbirds in a Jan. 24 game at Marshfield Ice Arena.
The teams were tied after Lakeland matched a Cadie Ash goal in the first period. Ash was assisted by Paige Bauer and Alayna Bruneau.
After a scoreless second period, Union came back to score three more — one by Shelby Tryba, assisted by Lauryn Broecker and Bauer; another from Ash, assisted by Tryba and Bruneau; and a third by Lyndsey Glodosky, assisted by Bruneau. The strong third period gave Union a 4-1 non-conference win.
Union is now 3-4 in the Eastern Conference and 7-8-1 overall.
