Rosholt holds on to second in CWC-South over Port Edwards

PORT EDWARDS — On Feb. 1, the Port Edwards girls basketball team lost their battle for second place in the CWC-South to Rosholt at home, with a final score of 59-47.
The Hornets took a 31-20 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Blackhawks would cut the lead down to three at least twice, but couldn’t get any closer. The game saw 64 free throws shot between the two teams, both shooting 32 each. The difference was Rosholt made 22 of their 32, while Port Edwards only made 15 for 32.
The loss drops the Blackhawks to 7-9 overall and 5-3 in conference play. The Blackhawks were led in scoring by Kaitlyn Lyp with 23, followed by Jade Martin with 15 points. Taylor Martin added five points and Brynna Hawk added four. The Hornets were led in scoring by Ashley Studzinski with 19 points, with Jenna Trzebiatowski and Amber Studzinski adding 14 and 10 points respectively.
