Port Edwards girls earn victory over Tri-County

PLAINFIELD – On Feb. 5, the Port Edwards girls basketball team traveled to Plainfield to take on the Tri-County Penguins. In a low scoring first half, the Blackhawks had the lead heading into halftime with a score of 12-8.
In the second half, the Blackhawks were able to find some offense to coast to a 38-16 victory. The win brings the Blackhawks to an 8-9 overall record and 6-3 in conference play.
The Blackhawks had three players in double figures, led by Jade Martin with 13, Kaitlyn Lyp with 11, and Taylor Martin with 10. Brynna Hawk and Kailer Lyp each contributed two points. The Penguins were led in scoring by Kenzy Reilly with five points.
