DECA members qualify for ICDC

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Lincoln High School (LHS) students recently competed in Wisconsin DECA’s State Career Development Conference (SCDC) in Lake Geneva. DECA is a career and technical student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management fields.
LHS was represented by 41 students at SCDC, with 20 students recognized for scores in a variety of projects, tests, and role plays. The following students have qualified for the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Orlando, FL:
Marketing Management Team Decision Making: Jessica Mueller and Harrison Sullivan; Economics Excellence: Harrison Sullivan; Marketing Education Training Presentation: Taylor Mancl, Cassidy Kohls, and Carson Gunderson; Public Relations Project: Taylor Mancl, Jessica Mueller, and Chandler Vruwink; Professional Selling: Paige Wogahn; Human Resources Management: Hannah Nyman; Personal Financial Literacy: Desiree Alu; Restaurant and Food Services Marketing: Bennet Smith; Business Innovation Plan: Adam Urban; Gold Student Project: Chandler Vruwink and Abigail DeRoche; Gold Chapter: Jacob Schooley; School-Based Enterprise: Desiree Alu, Joseph Whitemarsh, and Justin Wefel; Quick Service Restaurant Marketing: McKenna Williamson; Automotive Services Marketing: Chandler Vruwink; Sports and Entertainment Marketing: Adam Urban; and THRIVE: Olivia Capelle, Sarah Price, Zachary Schaeffer, Ashlynn Southworth, and McKenna Williamson.
In addition, two LHS students have been elected to Wisconsin DECA State Officer Team 54. Taylor Mancl and Chandler Vruwink were announced as vice presidents of Wisconsin DECA at the closing session of SCDC where they also took their oath of office in front of over 1,500 students and advisors. Both with serve in this role through next year’s SCDC in March.
