MARSHFIELD – A semi show and parade will join the Central Wisconsin State Fair (CWSF) Draft Horse show, July 12-14, for a “Horse Powered Weekend” on the CWSF grounds in Marshfield.

Two events will come together to load the weekend with activity on the fairgrounds. Food vendors will be on the grounds for all events, with free entry for both the working show truck and the draft horse hitch and halter classes.

This is the second year for the draft horse event and the first year for the semi show, which includes a parade through Marshfield on Saturday evening starting at 8:30 p.m.

“Parents if you’re bringing your children to watch the truck parade have them make signs that say honk or ‘Jake brake’ and us drivers will not let your kids down,” said organizer, Andy Axelson. “Also with our parade being a night parade drivers will not be allowed to throw anything from their trucks so there will be no candy thrown at this parade.”

Axelson said that trucks will start arriving Friday morning and will continue to come through Saturday morning.

“Working trucks from across Wisconsin will be on display for people to look at and be able to talk to the men and women that drive these trucks for living to help keep our country moving bringing us everyday essential goods that we need,” he said. “Along with a minimal entry fee the drivers are also being asked to bring either a nonperishable food item or a new toy that will be donated to those in need in the Marshfield area we would also like to ask any of the public that attends the show if they would like to bring non-perishable food items and a new unwrapped toy to donate as well that we would be very grateful for that.”

Axelson added that he hopes the event will become an annual show in Marshfield to “raise money for a family in need that falls on rough times, a family that has a sick child.”

“As a truck show, our goal is not to put money into our pockets but to raise money to give back to the community,” he explained.
