Wisconsin Rapids wrestlers have four regional champions; Seven other grapplers qualify for sectionals

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln wrestlers competed at D.C. Everest High School on Feb. 15 for WIAA Division 1 regional competition.
Rapids had four wrestlers finish at the top and qualified seven more for the sectionals.
Regional champions for Lincoln are Preston Spray (106), Wyler Lubeck (152), Peter Rucker (182), and Andrew Schutz (195).
Also moving on for Wisconsin Rapids is Josh Black (113) who finished fourth; Lukas Erickson (120) placing third; Ryan Sering (126), Cole Ladick (132), Zac Hamel (138), Damien Bennett (145), and Josh Hansen (220) all placing fourth; and Sam Scheidegger (285) finished third.
Other wrestlers participating for Wisconsin Rapids were Dakotah Braatz (160) and Leo Brostowitz (170).
D.C. Everest won the regional event as a team, with a score of 208.5. Wisconsin Rapids finished second with 199.5. Third place went to Marshfield, with 191.5; SPASH finished fourth with 157.5. Wausau West was fifth with a 116.0, followed by Merrill, Rhinelander, and Wausau East. D.C. Everest will wrestle against Hudson in River Falls on Feb. 18 for team sectionals.
The WIAA Division 1 Individual Sectionals will be held Feb. 22 at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School.
