WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The city of Wisconsin Rapids will hold a recount for the results of the April 7 spring election on April 20.

“On April 16, 2020, a recount petition was filed by Vernon Verjinsky, a candidate for the Office of Alderperson for the Second District, at the spring election held on April 7, 2020,” the recount order states. “The petition requests a recount of Wards 2 and 3 (District 2) for the Office of Alderperson for the Second District.”

The April 7 election resulted in a 213-213 tie between Verjinsky and opponent, Dean Veneman.

The board of canvassers will meet April 20 at 9 a.m.
