WISCONSIN RAPIDS – A “Final Alarm” procession will be held Sept. 26 to honor firefighters lost in the line of duty.

“The Final Alarm Ceremony is held annually to honor firefighter line of duty deaths in the Wisconsin fire service. This event is held at the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial in Wisconsin Rapids, followed by the Final Alarm Procession,” a Wisconsin Rapids fire department release said.

“Due to COVID, the 2020 Final Alarm Ceremony has been cancelled; however, the Final Alarm Procession will still continue. The Procession gives members in the fire service the opportunity to recognize the line of duty deaths in 2019.”

Individuals to be honored this year were: LT/ Paramedic Odell Minor, Milwaukee Fire; Driver/Engineer Mitchell Lundgaard, Appleton Fire; and Firefighter Brian Serdynski, Union Grove Fire.

The Final Alarm Procession will be held Sept. 26, beginning at 7 p.m. The procession will start at the Firefighters Memorial and proceed through Wisconsin Rapids.
