Wood County man injured in motorcycle crash

WOOD COUNTY – A south Wood County man is hospitalized after crashing his motorcycle. The crash occurred Aug. 4, shortly after 9 p.m. on Highway 13 at Townline Road in the village of Port Edwards.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, 46-year-old Shannon Torke of Wisconsin Rapids was going north on Highway 13 when he struck a curb, lost control of his bike, and was ejected.
Torke sustained serious injuries, and was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Wood County Sheriff’s Rescue, Grand Rapids Police and Fire Departments, Wisconsin Rapids Police and Ambulance, Saratoga First Responders, and Life Link Helicopter.
The crash remains under investigation.
