On Sept. 18, shortly after 11:30 a.m., the officer visited a residence on the 3000 block of Shady Lane.
“While making contact at the residence, a large, pit bull type dog aggressively charged out of the residence and attacked the officer,” release from Deputy Chief Brian Krzykowski stated.
“The dog attacked him two times, biting him and causing several injuries. On the third attack, the officer discharged his firearm to stop the dog from injuring him further.
“The injured officer was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. He was treated for his injuries and was later released. The dog was turned over to a veterinarian for medical testing.”
