WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings finished their weekend, Jan. 14-15, in Hudson strong, as they are able to complete the weekend sweep in dramatic fashion.

On Friday, the Riverkings came ready to play as they defeated the Hudson Havoc, 8-4.

Goals came from Joe Blair, Jordan Stear, Colby Brett, Ben Pizzimenti, Adam Brzezicki, Grant Newcomer, and Reece McDonald.

After a three-point game, Stear hit another milestone as he achieved his 200th career junior hockey point.

Riley Allen saved 27 of 31.

Saturday’s game was close to the end. After the second period, the Riverkings were down 3-2. The score remained the same until Pizzimenti scored a shorthanded goal to send the game to overtime.

After a scoreless overtime, the game was heading to a shootout, where McDonald played the role of “hero” as he knotted the only shoot-out goal to secure a Riverking win.

Ethan Blackburn stopped 39 of 42.
