Sheriff’s department seeks information in Port Edwards shooting

WOOD COUNTY – The Wood County Sheriff’s Department is seeking information in a Port Edwards shooting.
On Jan. 24, the department received the report of a 19-year-old woman, who had been shot in the upper home while in her Nessa Lane home in the town of Port Edwards.
The incident was reported to have occurred on Jan. 15 at 7 p.m.
“The victim was treated and released after receiving medical treatment at Riverview Hospital in the City of Wisconsin Rapids,” a Wood County Sheriff’s release stated.
“Investigators believe the residence was shot multiple times with a small caliber firearm from the roadway.
“At this time, it appears that this is a random act. The Wood County Sheriff’s Department is asking residents (to) review home security systems and report anything suspicious in this area between January 15, 2022 to the present date.”
