Knights of Columbus to host youth contests

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Knights of Columbus, Council 1558 will host a math, spelling, and free throw contest Jan. 29 at St. Vincent de Paul School, 831 12th St. South, Wisconsin Rapids.

The math and spelling contests are for students in grades five through eight.  Each student may compete in either one or both contests.  Awards will be presented for each grade and the winners will be eligible to participate at the diocesan level in Plover March 12.  Winners at the diocesan level can move on to the state contest which will be held at Assumption High School April 30.

The free throw contest is for children ages nine through 14.  Boys and girls will compete separately.  Awards will be presented to the winners and they will be eligible to compete at the district level immediately following the council contest.  Winners at the district can move on to diocesan contest and possibly the state contest which will also be at Assumption High School April 30.

Registration for most events begins at 9:15 a.m.

The free throw contest starts at 1 p.m., with registration at 12:30 p.m.
