Riverkings sweep Rum River Mallards

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings hockey team returned home after picking up two wins Feb. 21-22 in Hudson.
On Friday night, the Riverkings defeated the Rum River Mallards 4-1, all while outshooting them 50 to 18. Goals came from Grant Newcomer, Jordan Stear, Ben Pizzimenti, and Geo Grano.
On Saturday night, the Riverkings fell behind after the first period, 2-0, in dramatic fashion. They came back to defeat the Mallards 4-3 while outshooting them, 66 to 27.
Goalie Riley Allen came into the game in the second period and shut the door, allowing the Riverkings to complete the comeback on home ice. Goals came from Grant Newcomer, Jack Kerich, Reece McDonald, and Liam Hogan netted the game-winner.
The next Riverkings home games are on Jan. 28-29, as they take on the Steele County Blades at the South Wood County Recreation Center at 7 p.m.
