Arlene was born in Wisconsin Rapids on May 1, 1935 to Arthur and Agnes (Pribbanow) Saeger. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1953. On August 25, 1956, she was united in marriage to Neil Knoll at St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner. They were blessed with 58 years of marriage and the birth of two children; Jeff and Becky.
Arlene worked at Woolworths in Wisconsin Rapids until her children where born when she devoted her time to being a full time mom and homemaker. As the children grew and started school, Arlene returned to the workplace; working at Hamer’s Bakery for a period before becoming a school bus driver and later an aid at Safe-Way Bus Transit, Inc. She retired from Safe-Way after many years of service.
Arlene was an excellent baker and cook and was known for her homemade mac and cheese, pies, chili and chicken and dumpling soup. You never left Arlene’s house on an empty stomach; even the grand-dogs and cats had to eat and the crows were the grateful recipients of leftovers. She was a gracious hostess and looked forward to the nights when she would have the Bunko club at her home. Arlene’s other interests included playing cards and Yahtzee, going to the casino, and working crossword puzzles. She enjoyed having Kellner’s largest garage sale every year and offering up various treasures to area bargain hunters with her 5 and 10 cent deals.
Arlene is survived by her children: Jeff (Denise) Knoll and Becky Dove (Steve Sheehy), grandchildren: Alex Dove and Brooke Dove (Abe Torres), sisters: Bev Kirst and Sandy Primeau, and sister-in-law, Nancy Saeger, all of Wisconsin Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Neil, father and mother-in-law: Carl and Elnora Knoll, brother, Duaine Saeger, brothers-in-law: Ronald Primeau, Jere Kirst, Howard Knoll, and Kenneth Knuteson, and sister-in-law, Myrtle Knuteson.
