By Matt Server
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Riverkings hosted their one and only home game in the month of December, on Dec. 14, facing off against the Wisconsin Dells Ducks.
It was “Pink the Rink” night with the goal of helping the Nate and Kristin Dean family, as Kristin battles breast cancer, and to raise awareness.
The Riverkings headed into the first intermission ahead, 1-0, off a goal from Harolds Jirgens. They then took control quickly in the second going up 5-0 and scored two late goals to head into the final period with a 7-0 lead.
They would pitch a clean sheet the rest of the way, keeping the score at 7-0 at the end of the game.
The Riverkings had a balanced attack with 15 players picking up points during the game lead by newcomer Logan Harris, who had two goals and an assist.
Jirgens, Reece McDonald, and Markus Cook also had multiple points on the night.
Matt Server stopped all 14 shots fired his way as he picks up his second shutout of the season.
The next home games are Jan. 10-11, against the Minnesota Moose. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. for both games at the South Wood County Recreation Center.
