Arpin Man Faces Charges of Methamphetamine Possession

A 41-year-old man is charged with possession of methamphetamine after admitting to owning a canister containing the substance.

On Mar. 16, police began an investigation into the potential drug activities of Jason Stecker of Arpin, after a family member turned over a red canister containing methamphetamine to authorities. It was believed that the family member was wearing Stecker’s pants that day, with the canister already in the pants pocket.

When questioned by police, Stecker admitted to past methamphetamine use, and that the family member could have been wearing his pants that day. Stecker allegedly told police it’s possible that the pants were his, and while it would be an admission of guilt, he does not believe the canister was his, and that he would “take the fall” for the family member.

If convicted, Stecker faces up to three years and six months imprisonment and up to $10,000 in fines. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 24.
