For the City Times

Have you ever felt truly heartbroken? A broken heart can be very real.

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Aspirus invites all ladies to learn about this actual medical condition at the free Aspiring Women girls’ night out, “Broken Heart Syndrome.”

Dr. Robert Martin, MD, FACC, cardiologist with Aspirus Heart & Vascular at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids, will explain what broken heart syndrome is, why it mainly affects women, and why we are seeing so much more of it.

In addition to learning about this cardiac condition that is afflicting an increasing number of women, ladies will sample heart-healthy appetizers and take home recipes and an Aspiring Women gift.

The admission fee for this special girls’ night out is one full-size tube of toothpaste or bottle of mouthwash, which will go to local individuals in need.

“Broken Heart Syndrome” will be held from 5:30 to 7 pm at the Hotel Mead in Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday, Feb. 13, and at the Stevens Point Country Club on Tuesday, February 20. Just pick the girls’ night out that best fits your schedule when you register.

Advance registration is required, as space is limited. To register, visit aspirus.org/AspiringWomen or call 1-800-847-4707. (Please register individually.)

Aspiring Women is the Aspirus partnership with Spirit of Women, a nationwide network of hospitals and health care systems that inspires health and wellness on a local level, primarily through educational and entertaining events for women. Membership in Aspiring Women is free and includes notice of upcoming events in your area and free e-newsletters. To join, visit aspirus.org/AspiringWomen
