United Way of Inner Wisconsin’s Volunteer Center promotes the volunteer needs of local non-profit organizations in both south Wood and Adams Counties on a weekly basis. Here is how you can get involved and volunteer for these great organizations.

Wisconsin Rapids Area Habitat for Humanity: Restore Truck Driver Assistant– The board is seeking volunteers who can assist ReStore Truck Drivers to pick up donations in south Wood County.  This is an intermittent time commitment that can be scheduled to your availability.

Donations of Building Materials& Household Goods- ReStore outlets accept building materials and household goods for re-sale.  Wisconsin Rapids Area Habitat for Humanity is affiliated with the ReStore in Mauston.  ReStore will pick-up tax deductible donations by appointment.  The store sends a truck with a driver and a local volunteer assists to load donations.  WRAHGH receives proceeds from goods donated from South Wood County.  These donations fund our building materials.  Remember ReStore for your next home remodeling project.  Contact ReStore at 608-847-2000. ReStore accepts:  furniture, books, building materials, electrical items, household goods, exercise equipment, antiques/collectibles, DVDs, toys, tools, outdoor furniture and working appliances.

Jeremiah’s Crossing: Instruction Assistant/Parent Liaison-Help Instructors Communicate Important Information to Parents/Caregivers. Be available on a lesson day to help make sure important information is given to parents and caregivers, and messages are recorded for the instructor. Sometimes, it isn’t possible for instructors to personally interact with parents and caregivers. It would be very helpful to have one person available to share. Choose one day per week or share a day with a friend. All information is provided to you.

Grounds, Maintenance & Gardening: We always need help with mowing, wood cutting & stacking, raking, stall cleaning, pasture clean up, building maintenance, gardening, all around beautification. This is a great opportunity for those who do not wish to help out during lessons.

Promotions Volunteer: Promotions volunteer would help us promote our need for lesson volunteers.  This includes visiting local high schools and other community groups.

United Way of Inner Wisconsin’s Volunteer Center at 715-421-0390 or visit our website at www.volunteerinnerwisc.org.
